Dawn Creation

1976 Colour, 11 minutes, 2”master
Music composed and performed by Simon Desorgher

Dawn Creation was the culminating piece of a three-year period of working with purely non-representational imagery, and pre-dates the use of the Videokalos synthesiser.

It integrates formal concerns with colour, form, time, sound, electronics etc. with an exploration of the process of manifestation of all perceived forms. It was inspired by perceptions and intuitions of the interpenetration of order and chaos in our experience of the universe on scales ranging from micro to macro-cosmic.

It alludes to the beginnings of life and our planet and was memorably described by the Head of the British Film Institute as “a day in the life of the universe”.
