Beginning

part 1 of The Creation Cycle.
1972, 7 minutes.

Beginning was the first and most experimental piece of the Cycle, as it was simultaneously exploring both the technical possibilities and the performance dynamic between the two participants.

It was made at the Royal College of Art studio in Queensgate, London, where I was studying for an MA in Film, TV and Photography. I met my main collaborator, Simon Desorgher, at the nearby Royal College of Music where Simon was studying flute under Christopher Hyde-Smith and electronic composition under Tristram Cary.
